SDI 4 Apps - Uptake of open geographic information through innovative services based on linked data

The University of West Bohemia, the coordinator of SDI4Apps project, is hosting the third SDI4Apps project meeting from 5th to 6th March at its premises in Pilsen, Czech Republic. Representatives from all 17 partner organizations are expected to attend the meeting in order to decide on future steps for the SDI4Apps project implementation.

The meeting will establish a plan for the internal validation of the open data pilot applications by mobilizing the active engagement of the pilots’ developers. Furthermore, it will put into place a comprehensive methodology for the engagement of all relevant stakeholders by drawing on the results of a questionnaire that has already been distributed among partners.

Concerning the technical component, issues of the basic cloud functionality will be further discussed (scalability of MapServer, clustering using GeoServer and spatial data publication using the Linked Open Data principles) with a view to enhancing the performance of the platform.

The SDI4Apps activities are carried out in close cooperation with other EU projects including Linda, OpenTrasnportNet, FOODIE and SmartOpenData. Furthermore, SDI4Apps is involved in the Architecture Implementation Pilots of the Group on Earth Observations (GEOSS).
